The decluttering and decorating continues...

It has been a busy week around here. Sunday, we moved some boys rooms around and swapped rooms for one of them. Alex has had his own room since we moved here, and since Christian is now 18 (19 in December *snif*) and going to college, we decided to change that. We put Ethan in to Alex's room, which meant that we had to clean out Alex's closet or his desk drawers.

Let me just say that if you were to walk in to Alex's room, you would think he is the neatest, most organized teenager ever. Just don't open the closet. Six (!!) trash bags later, we were ready to move Ethan's stuff in. Thank Ikea for the loft beds we bought years ago, because without them, two people wouldn't fit in to these tiny rooms.

After we got their stuff in to the rooms, it became obvious that Ethan needs a shelf. After thinking about it for a day, I grabbed the wire cube thing that was holding fishing stuff on the patio and after a good scrub, it fits perfectly between the loft beds.

One of the bribes incentives that helped Alex give up his freedom is that they now get a TV and the xBox in their room.  My MIL replaced her TV recently, and offered it to Christian, who does not want a TV in his room. It is currently in Alex and Ethan's room at my mom's house, but when they come home on Saturday (Woot!) it will be in our living room and our current TV will be going in to Alex and Ethan's room.I have been on the lookout for something to put it on, but haven't found anything. And then...

The other day, I tried to turn my desktop computer on and it decided that it had other plans. After a few attempts at fixing it, I made the decision to just put it away and we will deal with it later. I am planning to get a laptop in the spring-ish anyway, so if nothing else, I just want to be able to pull the pictures and files off of it. That leaves us with a big computer armoire that matches the TV armoire. After some measuring, shelf removal and reconfiguring, it is in their room waiting for Christian to stabilize it tomorrow. Once that is done, there will be plenty of room for the TV, xBox and all of the junk that goes with it. Tomorrow, I will go in and put all of their stuff away. Now we just have to pick some paint colors and a few other things for their room. I have no idea what we will do to make a room that will reflect the tastes of the camo loving, fishing, skateboarding and anything else outdoors guy with the dark colors, would do anything to avoid being outside so he can be on the computer guy. I will let you know when I figure it out.

Now... that leaves us with a problem that isn't really a problem. The surprise for someone I was talking about was put in to motion a bit earlierthan expected by moving the armoire out of the living room. See, Marty needs a work space for home. Some place that he can spread a bunch of papers out and not have to worry about cleaning them up every time we need to eat. Enter - the antique drop leaf table from under my bed.

This table has been in my family for ever. I really have no idea, but I know it is a long time. It has been stored under my bed since we moved here, because we just didn't have a place for it. Now, it sits where the armoire sat, and is the perfect place for the laptop and spreading out to get some work done - something you couldn't do with the armoire anyway.

1) Yes, my couch is ugly. I know. I did not choose the fabric.
2) The space is not done. The rest of the surprise will take care of that.
3) The crap under the table will disappear as part of the surprise.
4) I really need to spend some time learning how to take decent pictures.

We also managed to get the patio cleaned off today, in anticipation of our new to us patio table we will pick up tomorrow.
